Iyengar Yoga is the most widely taught form of yoga worldwide. The system of postures (asanas) and breathing (pranayama) was developed by B.K.S Iyengar who taught and practised yoga for over 70 years until shortly before his death in 2014 at the age of 95. Iyengar yoga is characterised by precision and attention to detail in the alignment of the
asanas, the sequencing of poses and the use of props and modifications to enable everyone, regardless or age or ability, to practise yoga safely and access the benefits it brings.
More information on the Iyengar method is available on the Iyengar Yoga (UK) website. See also What to expect at an Iyengar yoga class.
