Fiona Bochel

Fiona started attending Iyengar classes in 1979, qualified as a teacher in 1995 and has been teaching in Aberdeen since 1994.  She is a member of the Iyengar Yoga Association, and attends courses and classes regularly.  Her passion for, and love of yoga is evident in her teaching.

 

 

Joe Burn

Joe has been practising Iyengar yoga since 1990, and he has been teaching for twenty odd years. Joe is a teacher trainer, an assessor and holds a Junior intermediate level 3 certificate. He has studied at the Iyengar Yoga Institute in Pune with Mr Iyengar and his daughter, Gita, and son, Prashant, on four occasions.

Sam Mckeown

Sam has been practising yoga since 2000 and qualified as an Iyengar yoga teacher in 2008 with Iyengar Yoga (UK).  She has now gained a Junior Intermediate Level 1 teaching certificate and enjoys the detail and precision of the Iyengar approach together with the health benefits of strengthening the body, building stamina and improving flexibility.  Sam has been teaching regularly since 2012 and continues to train and develop her knowledge through attending classes and workshops with senior teachers.

Mel began practising Iyengar Yoga in 2002 when she discovered one of Fiona’s classes in Aberdeen and was soon hooked!  She sees it as essential to her wellbeing, for both body and mind, and enjoys the opportunities it offers to learn and study. She continues to deepen her understanding and gain new perspectives by attending classes and workshops. She gained her Introductory Level 2 Iyengar teaching certificate in 2013.

Sue Branston

Sue qualified as an Iyengar Introductory Teacher in 1994 and has taught regular classes in and around Huntly in Aberdeenshire since then. Sue attended her first Iyengar Yoga class in Central London in 1974 . Enthused by this ,she continued to seek out Iyengar classes after moves to South West London, Somerset and Aberdeenshire . Sue attends workshops with Senior Iyengar Teachers visiting from other parts of the UK, Europe and India. There’s always something new to explore and learn!

Maggie McGarity

Maggie has practiced yoga since her teenage years, first introduced to Iyengar yoga at Joe’s classes in Aberdeenshire. Inspired to deepen her practice, she trained to teach and qualified as an Iyengar teacher in 2020. Her classes are welcoming, offering students both challenge and relaxation.
